Short Answer

The best Curio is the one that changes real attempts. Use Curios for a job: more survival, smoother stamina, better damage conversion, route farming, status control, or one boss-specific interaction. If you cannot feel the Curio after several attempts, swap it.

Curios are passive equipment, so they are easy to forget. That is exactly why they should be reviewed whenever your route, boss, spell plan, or armor set changes.

Curio Jobs

Sort Curios by purpose, not rarity.

  • Survival: helps you live through learning attempts or long routes.
  • Stamina comfort: helps dodge, sprint, and charged-punish rhythm.
  • Damage conversion: helps when openings are already clean.
  • Spell support: helps mana, cooldown, or control-heavy plans indirectly.
  • Spirit or transformation support: helps burst plans that already land.
  • Status answer: helps when Poison, Burn, Shock, or Chill keeps shaping attempts.
  • Farming utility: helps Will, materials, or route safety.

The right passive for a boss is often different from the right passive for exploration. A farming Curio should usually leave before a serious boss attempt.

Slot Planning

Start with two slots in mind:

  1. A stability slot for the problem that causes deaths.
  2. A payoff slot for the plan that wins the fight.

For example, pair a survival or stamina Curio with a damage or spell-support Curio. If both slots are greedy, you may never reach the payoff window. If both slots are defensive, the fight may last long enough to create new mistakes.

After the Yin Tiger route opens the extra Curio slot, avoid filling it with a random damage piece by default. The third slot is strongest when it covers a missing job: status control for a chapter, route utility for farming, or stamina comfort for a heavy-attack build.

When To Swap

Swap Curios when the problem changes:

  • Boss kills you before phase two: add survival.
  • You survive but miss punish windows: add stamina or recovery comfort.
  • You reach the final phase with resources unused: add damage or Spirit support.
  • A status forces bad heals: add status support or change armor.
  • You are farming: add route utility, then remove it before the next wall.

Do not swap Curios after every single death. Play several attempts with the same loadout so you can tell whether the passive is changing anything.

Acquisition Mindset

Curios come from different sources: chests, shrine stores, bosses, quests, and exploration. When you hear about a strong Curio, ask whether it is available in your chapter and whether the acquisition route is worth delaying progression.

An early safe Curio you already have is better than a late Curio you are not ready to route for. A rare Curio with a narrow effect is worse than a common Curio that solves today’s fight.

Common Mistakes

  • Equipping the highest-rarity Curios without checking the effect.
  • Leaving farming passives on during a boss wall.
  • Using damage passives before openings are stable.
  • Forgetting to add status help in status-heavy chapters.
  • Ignoring the third slot after unlocking it, or filling it with a duplicate job.

Quick Test

After three attempts, ask:

  • Did I live longer?
  • Did I reach the planned phase more often?
  • Did the Curio help me convert an opening?
  • Did it reduce route cost?
  • Did I notice nothing?

If the answer is “I noticed nothing,” the Curio may still be good, but it is not the right tool for the current problem.

FAQ

Are Curios build-defining?

Some can be, but most are build-supporting. They strengthen a plan that already works instead of replacing timing, route discipline, or resource management.

Should I use damage Curios?

Use damage Curios when you already reach clean openings. If you die before those openings, survival and stamina passives are better.

Should I chase the third slot early?

Chase it when the route is available and your build has three real jobs. Do not rush it if your current problem is basic chapter progression.
