Short Answer

Chapter 5 is a fire-pressure chapter, so build around Scorch control, route efficiency, and boss openings you can actually convert. Keep Fireproof Mantle or fire-resistance planning for the fights that justify it, and do not spend your full burst package into a boss that is still moving.

Target Player State

Use this build when the Flaming Mountains are open and you are preparing for carts, lava routes, Red Boy, Yaksha King, or the Bishui Cave secret route. It assumes you have enough tools to choose between survival, burst, and stance reach, but still need a consistent first-clear plan.

Build Path

  • Resistance: bring Scorch cures and fire-resistance choices before long routes.
  • Vessel: keep Fireproof Mantle available when fire pressure is the main danger.
  • Stance: use Smash as baseline, Thrust for cart or beast openings that end at range, and Pillar only for specific ground-pressure reads.
  • Spells: use Immobilize after a boss commits; use Cloud Step to reset burn pressure or escape walls.
  • Spirit: choose either fast stagger or a reliable burst hit after control.
  • Transformation: save for the phase where the boss slows, lands, or becomes punishable.
  • Consumables: spend them on serious attempts after you can reach the dangerous phase.

Rotation

For routes, shorten the path before optimizing damage. Rest at the closest shrine, clear only enemies that threaten the runback, and do not spend mana on minor fights if the boss is next.

For bosses, play the opener with ordinary dodges. Once the boss commits to a heavy attack, cast Immobilize or use a Spirit, land a short combo, then reset. Fire pressure often tempts players into rushing before Scorch builds; the cleaner answer is to cure or reposition first, then punish.

If Fireproof Mantle is part of the plan, assign it to one danger window. It is strongest when it protects a known fire sequence or lets you stay calm during an arena hazard, not when it is spent automatically on the first attack.

Boss Matchups

Cart fights reward side positioning and patience. If the cart’s fire lane controls the arena, stop chasing damage from the front and wait for a safer angle.

Red Boy and Yaksha King ask for different discipline. Red Boy pressures with fire and movement, while Yaksha King demands respect for wide weapon arcs and long punish windows. Do not carry the same dodge timing blindly from one form into the next.

Bishui Cave bosses are optional, but they are serious tests of fire planning. Reset before entering and bring the fire tools you would use for a main boss.

When To Swap Away

Swap away if fire is not causing the failure. If you are clean on Scorch and dying to missed damage windows, add burst. If the boss keeps leaving close range, shift toward Thrust. If your mana is always empty before phase two, drop a spell-heavy plan and rely on staff timing plus one saved reset.

Recovery Plan

If the attempt fails, check whether Scorch, route damage, or greed caused the first heal. Add resistance or cures only when fire is the cause. If greed is the cause, shorten every punish by one hit. If route damage is the cause, solve the runback before changing the boss build.
